about
Noir might be the title track of the album and could be seen as the theme tune for this thriller story I'm describing but City Of Chaos is everything this album should've been. It's random, mixed, minimalist, haunting and atmospheric as well as sounding more soundtrack than any of the other tracks.
My main inspiration for this track is the setting of the film Se7en by David Fincher. There's a moment where Detective Somerset (played by Morgan Freeman) gets into a taxi and the driver asks "where to?" and Somerset sighs as he replies with something like "Anywhere but here". And as the taxi drives, you hear sirens in that background, it's constantly raining, the streets are filled people, it's all closed in and crammed and it's a feeling continues throughout the movie until the end when they leave the city. But even then, the change in setting is so different, wide open, desert-like, you're maybe even more uncomfortable than you were in the city. Brilliant stuff.
